Casi and Joey met in 2004 and fell head over heels for each other.
Two years later, Joey proposed.
The couple wanted to start a family right away! The two soon welcomed Chloe and Tenley.
In 2015, Casi and Joey learned they were expecting triplets!
The couple knew they would have 5 kids under the age of 7 in their house – a big job, but one they were excited for!
On January 29th, 2016, Casi delivered all three triplets. All were healthy and doing well, especially Mom who recovered quickly.
Days later Casi was released from the hospital and allowed to go home – a very happy occasion! But just 2 days after returning home, Casi woke one night with bad chest pains and heart palpitations.
Rushing Casi to the hospital, they discovered she had a blood clot in her lungs, most likely caused by a triplet pregnancy or the c-section she had delivered with.
During pregnancy, blood clots form easier in order for the body to experience less blood loss during birthing. Combine that with the fact that blood circulation worsens later in pregnancy – especially when you’re carrying 3 babies!
The doctors put Casi through a series of tests to ensure she had no other clots – she didn’t, but her heart had suffered a lot of stress. She wasn’t exhibiting any more symptoms after the clot was cleared, though, so doctors let her go home.
She decided then to put the health scare behind her and continue on in motherhood bliss.
On February 5th, Casi was able to hold all three triplets at once for the first time since the babies were born.
She also helped her husband prep the babies nursery later that day, pick her other children up from school, and spent some quality time with them at home. It was a perfect day, but unfortunately, that was when tragedy struck.
Casi passed away that day unexpectedly.
Now she would never be able to see her kids home from school again, and she would never be able to bring the triplets home. Joey was left to raise them by himself.
Joey described the pain as being unbearable but says he is trying to keep a routine for the kids.
Their lives changed in an instant, but he wants them to be happy – as Casi would want them to be.
A Gofundme page was set up for the family, to help them cover costs and support in this time of grieving.
“You can’t just call it quits, because you have five people who depend on you” he said about trying to cope day-to-day.
“Now the blessing and responsibility of pouring into these precious little lives begins, the sweet and loving memory of their mother Casi.”
