When it comes to decorating for the holiday season, these DIY glitter ornaments will not only add sparkle to your tree but you can also have loads of fun making them.
Even if you opt out of having a tree this year, you can customise the baubles to suit your needs. You can give them to someone else as a gift or you can make an eye-catching table centrepiece by putting a variety of the coloured decorative balls into glass bowls and vases.
To make them, you will need clear baubles or ornaments, craft glitter, glue, some floor cleaner, paper cups and napkins/tissues.
The first step is to remove the tops of the ornaments and pour a small amount of floor cleaner into each one. You can use the paper cups to make this a spill-free experience.
Next cover the top of the ornaments, one by one, and give each a gentle shake. Ensure the inside of each ornament is completely covered in floor cleaner. Pour out any excess and allow to sit for a few minutes.
While you are waiting for the floor cleaner to dry a little, pour different colour glitter into your paper cups to make it easier to get the glitter into the small opening of the ornament.
Pour some glitter in each ornament and shake gently again, covering the ornament’s opening with a bit of tissue. You should shake until the entire inside of each bauble is covered in glitter. There is no need to pour out any excessive glitter.
The last step is to ensure you put the lids back on each ornament and secure with a little glue. Make sure you do this with care so that the tops don’t fall off and create a glittery mess on the area surrounding the Christmas tree.
You are likely to enjoy your handiwork so much more than store-bought decorations! And you will leave a lasting impression on family and friends who are almost guaranteed to love the sparkly beauty of your Christmas decorations.
